Keeping Up With The CZFians

CZF may have just happened, but there’s still so much going on in Chicago and elsewhere, and so many zine-related things to talk about! Curious about post-fest survey responses or other zine-related events? Head on over to our official CZF tumblr to keep up with the discussion!

We will also be holding a post-fest Open Meeting for anyone in the community to come and share their thoughts about CZF 2013 with us while it’s still fresh, and talk about possibilities for next year’s fest. It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in volunteering or being involved in a larger capacity (even organizing) to come talk with us about it!

The open meeting is on Sunday, April 28th, 2013 from 1-3pm at the newly established Chicago Publishers Resource Center (ChiPRC) at 858 N. Ashland. See you there!

We have a couple of things that you might find interesting. First off is the full transcript from this year’s panel, Writing about Health, Disability, and Accessibility in Zines: A Panel with Kerri Radley, Maranda Elizabeth, and Dave Roche, hosted by Jami Sailor. It isn’t pretty, but it is interesting. Also, enjoy the (bleep)s.

Second, we have a Prezi from the wonderful Jenna Brager, who led a In The Gutter: A Super-Quick Intro To Writing/Drawing Comics this year.

All of us over here at CZF wanted to say thank you to all of the volunteers, exhibitors, attendees, panel members, readers, sponsors, donors, places to make copies, and anyone else that had anything at all to do with making CZF 2013 an amazing time. We will never be able to tell you how much it means to us!

The only way for us to make sure CZF keeps getting better is to hear what you liked and didn’t like about this year’s fest. We’d also love to hear any new ideas you have. We’ll be having an open meeting soon (more on that to come at a later date) and our email address is always being checked – chicagozinefest@gmail.com. But, while we’ve got your attention, here’s our survey.

Well, we want to see it, too!!! Just add a #chicagozinefest tag to any of your posts or tweet or pictures* so that we can check them out and other CZF-loving folkd can, too. We want to know what you think and what you’re finding awesome/interesting.

*Make sure you have someone’s permission before taking pictures. We sure you know that, but we wanted to mention it.

We’re talking about this year’s Chicago Zine Fest, of course!

There will be a ton to see and do this Friday, March 8th and Saturday March 9th and we can’t wait to see you there! Here’s a rough outline of what will be happening:

We’ve been working very hard on this for a long time, so we really hope everyone has the best time at all the events they are able to attend!

Well, if it’s about this year’s zine fest, odds are the answer can be found on our updated info page. We have the skinny on parking, driving, and basically any transportation option to each of this year’s events. We didn’t include anything about private jets, but we figured if you were that rich, you probably have someone to figure this sort of thing out for you.

It’s a CZF tradition to meet up a few weeks before the zine fest to make some informational / directional posters to hang at the fest. Want to help us make some signs? There’s no artistic requirements! We’ll supply the materials — all you have to do is show up! Join us on Sunday, February 24th from 2-4pm at Read/Write Library (914 N. California).
