Featured Donor: Angee & Spudnik Press

Angee at Spudnik Press helped us out big time with some screen-printed posters for the Zine Fest.  You should start seeing these going up all over the city in the next couple of days.  Above is a picture of Angee in the Spudnik space when we picked up posters from her.  Angee is the founder and director of Spudnik Press, and she was very enthusiastic and motivated in getting this project done for us.  We're very excited to have Spudnik involved with us, and if you've seen the poster you know how awesome they look!

Spudnik's mission, according to their website, is "to provide facilities and services available to artists who need a place to create or exhibit their original artwork, especially those who cannot obtain access to traditional printmaking facilities and exhibition spaces because of financial or other limitations.  To provide education in printmaking practices though uniting professional artists with a diverse community of emerging artists, established artists, youth, and adults."

Spudnik has open studio sessions three times a week, as well as classes and other printmaking-related events.  You can find info about that and about what they do on their website, over at http://spudnikpress.com.  In short, they're an amazing organization and a great resource for Chicago to have, and we're very excited to have them involved with us!  Next time you need something screenprinted, or if you're interested in learning about the process and getting involved, Spudnik should be the place you go.

In other news, the Zine Fest After-Show is all confirmed!  If you were wondering what's going on after a day of exhibiting, here it is:

Day-Of Volunteer Open Meeting & Sign-Making Party

Hello all.  We've been pretty busy over here at CZF Headquarters trying to get everything together for the big event, which is fast approaching.  We've recieved a lot of awesome help from many different people and organizations that have made and are making this process a whole lot easier on us.  Thanks so much to all of you!

On March 6th, we'll be hosting an Open Meeting for all volunteers who are signed on to work any or all of the events, as well as anyone interested in doing so that hasn't signed up.  The meeting will be held at The Funhouse (1743 N Mozart St) at 2 PM.  We will be discussing what exactly is going to need to take place at both days' events, as well as what we'll need help with.  All are welcome to come and bring friends.

The meeting will be followed by a Sign-Making Party at 3 PM.  We're going to need to generate a lot of paper to alert people about the spaces.  So if you ever wished you had a reason to write TRASH in four colors on a poster board, come on by!  We will have supplies on hand but bring your own if you've got them.

If you can't make the Open Meeting but still want to volunteer, please send us an email at Chicagozinefest@gmail.com and let us know.  We'll find a way to work you in.

Keep checking back for more updates, be on the lookout for the posters that are going up all over town, and drop us a line!  Zine Fest is coming up fast!
