The Chicago Zine Fest is a two-day celebration of zine culture. It is free to the public, so tell your friends and come check out independent literature and art from Chicago and beyond!

On the evening of Friday, March 12, to kick off the fest, Quimby's bookstore will host an open-mic styled zine reading featuring exhibitors from the Chicago Zine Fest. Check back soon for a highlight of who will be reading!

In conjuction with this, Johalla Projects will be hosting a zine-related art opening, followed by a showing of the Gadabout Film Festival.

Quimby's Bookstore and Johalla Projects are vital organizations in supporting Chicago independent art and culture. We're very happy and excited to be working with them. These locations are a five minute walk from one another, and are very close to public transportation. Pleaes be aware that Johalla Projects is located up a flight of stairs and, unfortunately, is not wheelchair accessible. All other events are!

The following day, Saturday, March 13, Columbia College and it's fiction department will host a day of exhibiting. Come down to the Conaway Student Center to browse hundreds of titles from indepedent authors and artists from the Chicago area and beyond. Most zines will be on sale for anywhere from $1-10, generally averaging at $3 or $4. Some zines will even be free! Come prepared to leave with an armful of great reading material and new connections with many artists from the region.

Check back soon for more details. A list of exhibitors will be posted as they come on, so check back frequently to keep up with what you can expect from the CZF.
